Doing My Part

Project Summary

This was one of the most challenging projects I have worked on in my career. The first major difficulty was coming into the middle of the project. Initial wireframes had been completed by the client with a different company and then initial design boards had been created by the previous designer at my company. To compound matters, most of the budget was gone and they had a tight timeline for launch. I spent a great deal of time analyzing their needs and eventually recommended they scrap 99% of what they already had and suggested we go back to the drawing board and start with fresh wireframes.

We spent most of the project behind the eight ball in terms of budget and timeline. In order to combat this, I worked directly with the development team to help streamline the process and cut down any communication gaps. We also took a slightly different approach to the process by completing very low fidelity wireframes on a whiteboard over the course of a few days which allowed us to focus on structure and get approval from the client much faster. We then basically ran the creation of the high fidelity mockups and the development of the site in unison so that we could complete the project in time for the pre-scheduled launch of the charity. After a lot of blood, sweat, and overtime hours we had completely redesigned their site to give them a fresh, updated look and create a much better user experience.
